For conventional atmospheric pressure, non-corrosive/slightly corrosive medium scenarios, Q235B carbon steel (equivalent to ASTM A36) is selected, with a yield strength of ≥235MPa and tensile strength of 370~500MPa, featuring excellent weldability and outstanding cost performance, which can meet the use needs of conventional vertical spherical storage tanks; for medium and high pressure working conditions, low-temperature environments or scenarios with trace corrosive media, Q345R carbon steel (formerly 16MnR, equivalent to ASTM A516 Gr.70) is selected, with a yield strength of ≥345MPa, featuring better low-temperature toughness and structural strength, which can effectively improve the deformation resistance and impact resistance of vertical spherical storage tanks; for high-sulfur and highly corrosive media, high-purity media or coastal high-salt fog environments, 304 stainless steel (06Cr19Ni10, equivalent to ASTM A240 TP304) is selected, with a Cr content of ≥18% and Ni content of 8%~11%, featuring extremely strong corrosion resistance, which can eliminate medium pollution and tank corrosion problems and extend the service life of vertical spherical storage tanks.
The materials of the tank bottom and head of vertical spherical storage tanks are synchronously adapted to the tank wall materials to achieve customized selection and ensure the compatibility and stability of the overall structure. The tank bottom is in direct contact with the foundation. For conventional dry foundation environments and small and medium-sized vertical spherical storage tanks, Q235B carbon steel is selected, matched with anti-corrosion coatings to reduce corrosion risks; for large vertical spherical storage tanks, soft soil foundations or easy settlement scenarios, Q345R carbon steel is selected to improve the deformation resistance and settlement resistance of the tank bottom and avoid tank bottom cracking and leakage; for wet corrosive foundations or highly corrosive medium storage scenarios, 304 stainless steel is selected to fundamentally eliminate tank bottom corrosion and leakage problems. As a sealing and pressure-bearing auxiliary component of vertical spherical storage tanks, the head is made of the same material as the tank wall. Under conventional working conditions, Q235B or Q345R is selected to ensure welding compatibility and structural stability; under strong corrosion working conditions, it is upgraded to 304 stainless steel, equipped with anti-corrosion sealing structures to further enhance the anti-corrosion and anti-leakage capabilities of vertical spherical storage tanks, fully realizing the precise matching of material properties and customized scenarios of vertical spherical storage tanks.
